Privacy Policy

What We Collect

Nothing. There is no sign-up, no account, and no analytics in Jot Minder. The app sends us no data because there is nowhere to send it — we run no backend.

IP Addresses

When you visit this website, your IP address may appear in temporary logs kept by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention. These are purged regularly. The app itself never contacts this website.

What We Don't Collect

This is the important part. We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your memos, journal entries, lists, notes or timers
• Your voice recordings or their transcriptions
• Your tags, list names, colours or settings
• Usage analytics or behavioural data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Contacts, calendars or photos

All of it is stored locally on your device and never leaves it unless you choose to back it up.

Voice Recording and Transcription

When you record a memo, audio is captured on your device and transcribed there using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The temporary audio file is deleted once the transcription is written. We never receive the audio or the text.

Recordings made on Apple Watch are transferred to your iPhone over Apple's device-to-device connection and transcribed there. They do not pass through us.

Backups

Backups are optional and off until you turn them on. When you do, the backup file is written to your own iCloud, Dropbox or Google Drive account. We do not host it, receive it, or have any access to it. Use one destination, all three, or none.

Connecting Dropbox or Google Drive signs you in to that provider directly — we never see your password, and you can disconnect at any time in Settings.

No Algorithms, No Profiling

We don't analyse what you write. There is no model being trained on your journal, no scoring of your habits, and no recommendations derived from your behaviour. What you write is yours, not ours to monetise.

No Cookies or Tracking

This website uses no cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or third-party analytics. The app does not track you across other apps or websites, and never asks permission to, because it has no reason to.

Third-Party Services

Apple

Speech recognition, alarms, Siri, widgets and iCloud backup use Apple's own frameworks and services, covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. iCloud backups are written to your own iCloud account.

Dropbox

Optional. If you connect Dropbox, the Dropbox SDK is included in the app to make the connection work. Dropbox's published information states that it collects details relating to your account with them — including your email address, an account identifier, and some usage and diagnostic data of their own. That is between you and Dropbox; none of it reaches us. See Dropbox's Privacy Policy.

Google Drive

Optional. If you connect Google Drive, Google's Sign-In SDK is included in the app to make the connection work. Google's published information states that it collects details relating to your Google account — including your name, email address, an account identifier, a device identifier, and some usage analytics of their own. That is between you and Google; none of it reaches us. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Website Hosting

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process basic technical information such as IP addresses as part of delivering it.

Platform Integrations

Siri and Shortcuts

When you capture through Siri, Siri handles the speech and passes Jot Minder the resulting text, which is saved to your device. That exchange is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Widgets and Apple Watch

Widgets and the watch app read and write the same on-device storage as the app, shared through Apple's app group mechanism. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

How We Use Information

We have essentially none to use. Server logs from this website are used solely to deliver the site and protect against abuse. We do not sell, rent, or share information with anyone. There are no ads in Jot Minder and there never will be.

Legal Disclosures

If compelled by law, the only information we could provide is IP addresses from website server logs. We hold no memos, no accounts and no personal data to disclose.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, any information we hold may be transferred. We will update this policy accordingly.

Security

All network communication is encrypted over HTTPS. Because we store no personal data, the surface area for a breach is minimal by design. The best way to protect your data is to never collect it.

Your Rights

Because we collect nothing, there is nothing of yours for us to hand over or delete. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. Backup files you created remain in your own cloud account until you delete them there.

Regulatory Compliance

California (CalOPPA / CCPA)

We comply with California privacy laws. We do not sell personal information, and we do not distribute your information to third parties without your consent.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13, and no part of Jot Minder is designed to attract anyone under 13.

European Union (GDPR)

Because we collect no personal data, our obligations are limited — but we take them seriously. You may request deletion of anything we hold about you at any time.

International Data Transfers

Information may be processed and stored outside your country of residence. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may apply depending on where data is processed.
