Can I chain timers into a routine?

Yes. That is what turns a list of timers into a workout, a recipe or a bedtime routine.

  1. Open the timers list and tap the settings icon.
  2. Choose Playback.
  3. Set it to run as a sequence rather than one at a time.

You can also choose how it moves on between steps:

  • Interactive — the alarm rings and waits for you. It sounds at ringer volume and breaks through silent mode and Focus, and dismissing it from the Lock Screen starts the next step. Right for cooking, where missing a stage costs more than a tap.
  • Automatic — the next step starts by itself, with a cue played over whatever you are listening to. Right for a workout, where your hands are busy.

There is also an option to have each alert name the step that follows it, so a routine can be run without looking at the screen.

A routine called Lifts running: the first step counting down from forty-nine seconds, two more steps queued at two and three minutes, with pause and stop controls
The running step counts down and hands over to the next one on its own. You never touch the phone mid-routine.
